Job description

Client

Our client is a growing international boutique firm (9 FTE) in Amsterdam De Pijp. They support international clients with accounting, payroll and legal support (incl. compliance). Their client portfolio mainly consists of operational entities with employees in sales and warehouse/logistics. The work is largely operational and volume-driven. They work under Dutch GAAP (RJ) and sometimes IFRS. Due to rapid growth, there are peak months, particularly April and May. Hybrid/working from home is possible by mutual agreement.

What will you do?

As a Financial Accountant (32–40 hours), you manage the financial administration for multiple (international) clients and deliver monthly/quarterly reporting. You work with Twinfield, Xero and Exact, proactively liaise with clients regarding missing or deviating information, and handle the full process from bookkeeping through to the annual accounts. The organisation is specifically looking for someone who can independently (hands-on) prepare annual accounts and own the year-end/regulatory process (so not only preparatory work).

Your responsibilities at a glance

  • Maintain and update administrations (Twinfield, Xero, Exact).
  • Process daily entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Deliver month-end and quarter-end close + reporting.
  • Prepare, reconcile and file VAT returns.
  • Analyse trial balances/general ledgers, identify discrepancies and resolve them with the client.
  • (Largely independently) prepare annual accounts and file them with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
  • Liaise with the external accountant/auditor during the year-end process (documentation, queries, follow-up).
  • Provide ad-hoc support to international clients on Dutch accounting requirements.

What you get

  • 32–40 hours per week (to be agreed).
  • Salary up to €6,000 gross per month (based on full-time, depending on experience).
  • Additional allowances on top of salary.
  • Boutique firm (9 FTE): short lines, quick decisions, lots of ownership.
  • Hybrid/working from home possible by mutual agreement.
  • International client portfolio with substantive variety (reporting, VAT, statutory).

What you bring

  • Completed finance education (minimum HBO); preferably 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable experience with statutory/regulatory statements and the full-cycle accounting process.
  • Experience with Dutch GAAP (RJ) and preferably also exposure to IFRS.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH).
  • Quick to learn systems (Twinfield, Xero, Exact; Nmbrs is a plus).
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
  • Structured way of working and ownership, also during busier periods (April/May).
